Top 5 Reasons to Reupholster

Since we've added upholstery to our services we've had various types of clients ask us to update their worn out furniture.  We've reupholstered furniture for homes, college dorms, doctor's offices, and much more.
Depending on the type of furniture you own, reupholstering it may be a better option than purchasing a new one.  Some things to consider are age and quality.  The higher the quality the more economical it is to reupholster it.  Of course, price and quality may not always be the decision makers.  Some furniture pieces are irreplaceable.

There are plenty of great reasons to reupholster your furniture.  Here's our top five:

1.) Economical:
As we previously mentioned, reupholstering your furniture may be a cheaper option than replacing it with a new one.  It all depends on the type, age, and quality of the furniture you own.

2.) Unique:
Would you  prefer to own a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture instead of purchasing a mass produced one?  By utilizing reupholstery services you can either hang on to your favorite piece(s)  or  fix up a neat one you found at the flea market or a yard sale.

3.) Green:
Reupholstering is environmentally friendly because your furniture isn't being thrown away.  We only throw the old fabric away, but don't worry, it's biodegradable!

4.) Appearance:
Furniture that has been reupholstered has a very high end appeal.  It looks: sharp, clean, and brand new!

5.) Sentimental:
There are some furniture pieces that you don't have the heart to throw away, such as heirloom            furniture.  By reupholstering it you can keep it in your family for years to come.

Here's an example of the reupholstery process:

Then replaced with fabric of your choice!

How does electrostatic painting work?

Ever heard of electrostatic painting?
It's actually widely used by many businesses for items such as: file cabinets, lockers, bathroom stalls, machines, and other metal items.

Electrostatic painting is similar to spray painting in that it is a spray application, but it's a more effective form.

Have you ever used a can of spray paint only to find that half of the can is wasted?  Electrostatic painting eliminates that waste by charging the paint particles so they stick to the object like a magnet.  However, unlike conventional spray paint, electrostatic paint can only be applied to metal objects.

In electrostatic painting the paint is mixed with a chemical that gives it a positive charge.  The paint is then applied to a grounded object with a negative charge.  The object is grounded by placing a metal wire on it.  The difference in charges allows the paint to stick to the item like a magnet sticks to a refrigerator.  Another example to think of is the static cling of clothes when they are taken out of the drier.

The static cling in the painting process allows for the paint to coat the object evenly without losing most of the paint  from being lost into the air.  This also means that minimal protection is needed for the perimeter of the painted area.

The efficiency of the electrostatic paining process makes it very suitable for on-site paining projects.  It is often used on: lockers, hand rails, filing cabinets, factory machinery, etc.

5 Reasons to Buy Used Office Furniture

Purchasing used office furniture may give you some skepticism about the idea.  Is it worth it?  How stable is it?  What kind of message does it send to my clients?

To help you get more comfortable with buying used furniture, visit a local dealer and look through their inventory.  By doing this you can get a better comparison of the looks and quality of new vs. used.

Need some convincing to consider used office furniture?  There's plenty of great reasons out there!

Here's our top 5:

1.) It's budget friendly
Used furniture costs much less than new furniture.  Usually, you'll end up paying less than 50% of retail price.

2.) It's better for the environment
You should feel good about yourself for deciding to buy used office furniture!  Not only are you               saving money, but you're doing your part in recycling by keeping the furniture out of landfills.

3.) It's immediate
Many used office furniture dealers (including ROI) store their used furniture on site.  You can    just go in, have a sales rep walk you through, and take home what you want that day.  There's no need to order and wait for shipping.

4.) It's good quality
Only durable furniture with good quality gets resold.  Furniture built with stable materials will                hold its value.  Ask a sales rep if they know how old the furniture is.  In most cases the older it is               the better.

5.) It has a conservative style
Contemporary office furniture has an everlasting style because it has a conservative design to it.  This includes: tables, bookcases, and filing cabinets.  When it comes to used office furniture, outdated style should be the least of your worries.

Of course, there are instances where used office furniture is not the right option for your business.  One thing to keep in mind is that used office furniture quantities are limited.  Whatever the company has in stock is the final quantity.

20 Years of ROI

It's been 20 great years since we've opened our doors for business in Fitchburg Massachusetts.  Since then we've grown into a full service company offering new, used, and refurbished office furniture as well as (re)upholstery and electrostatic painting services.

ROI Building (1982)
We began our business by acquiring a small electrostatic painting company called Brush Strokes Etc.  Our expansion began with the addition of upholstery services.  This addition lead us to change our name to ROI Industries.  We were inspired by the return on investment that clients receive when they reupholster their furniture.
Though we are best known for selling office furniture, we didn't actually add that to our mix of products until the mid 90's.  Initially, we only sold used/refurbished furniture, but our limited inventory lead us to consider selling new furniture as well.

ROI Building (2012)
By 2000 we became the company we are today, servicing a variety of schools,  medical facilities, corporate offices, and hotels.  We love our business and we love our clients.  We hope to continue building relationships and offering quality services in the future.
